The World Première Son et lumière show, ‘Merlin's Magical Quest’ combines art, music and drama in bringing Wales’s rich cultural tapestry to life.
Two shows were staged each night of the 27th and 28th October 2006.
The Son et Lumière in Caernarfon planned for 14th – 16th September 2007 has been postponed. Watch this site for further news.

Merlins Message
By projecting images onto the walls of the giant and impressive Caernarfon castle, this exciting multi-image production illuminates some of the many historical episodes
that have shaped this wonderful nation. This epic tale is accompanied by specially composed music which FOR THE FIRST TIME moves the Son et lumière show towards musical theatre.
Daily Timetable of Events
12pm - 5pm
Within the main festival site there was a medieval market.
There will be entertainers; stilt walkers, jugglers, musicians, Roman soldiers, plus an arena for fighting demonstrations and a falconry display....more
6pm - 7pm
The Son et lumière show. Merlin takes you through the history of Wales and in particular, Gwynedd and North Wales from earliest history until 1283 and the construction of the Castle.
The show included a spectacular display of images against the castle walls, an original score composed by Malcolm Rowe, and is interlaced with enactments and other displays to enhance the drama....more
8pm - 9pm
The second showing of the Son et lumière show.
Through the following week Coast 96.3 ran competitions. Listeners to the radio had a chance to win tickets to the show, or catch the Black Thunder chariot for a chance to win
various local produce including Snowdonia Cheeses in the Snack Attack competition. On Friday 27th October Steve Simms broadcasted his show from inside the festival site.

The Caernarfon Castle show will be the first permanent Son et Lumiére show, ever,
in the United Kingdom. The show will eventually be developed into a major cultural, educational and tourist attraction,
encompassing different themes within each year. New details will be available soon for the next show planned for September 2007.
